GIS technology enables the real time management of geographical data and empowers all government organizations, departments, private companies and institutions to take accurate and timely decisions for any situation in any country. So GIS is a leading technology in many developed countries and growing up counties in the world.

Geographic Information System(GIS) Club of University of Peradeniya was founded on 21st of July 2018 as the first University GIS club in Sri Lanka with the association of Faculty of Science and Postgraduate institute of Science , University of Peradeniya.
